May this blessed Eid Mubarak be a source of immense blessing along with joy & happiness for you and your family.
There are many reasons why batteries should be recovered and recycled rather than just being sent to landfill.
Batteries are made from a variety of heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium, zinc, lithium, and mercury. These metals are non-renewable and can be recycled an indefinite number of times.
Some of these metals, particularly lead, cadmium, and mercury, are extremely toxic. These harmful substances permeate into the soil, groundwater and surface water through landfills and also release toxins into the air when they are burnt in municipal waste combustors. Also, cadmium is easily absorbed by the plant roots and therefore accumulates in fruits, vegetables, and grass. The polluted water is consumed by animals and humans, causing health problems to both. Landfills also generate methane gas leading to the ‘greenhouse effect’ and global climatic changes.
As studies have shown, exposure to such metals for a long period of time can cause many health problems, such as nausea, abdominal pain, liver and kidney damage, skin irritation, headaches, asthma or sometimes even cancer.
But there is nothing wrong with using batteries, as long as they are being disposed of properly. Each battery chemistry has its own recycling procedure.
Jumbohan Marketing made a significant commitment to protecting the environment by becoming a non-profitable Alcad’s collection point for battery recycling in Malaysia.
So far, we sent approximately 5000 cells of batteries for recycling to Alcad. Jumbohan has a capacity of collecting up to 100 tons of used batteries. The batteries are dismantled, recycled or safely disposed of in Alcad’s recycling facility in Sweden.
Alcad batteries are manufactured with the strongest environmental standards for manufacturing and all the materials are fully recyclable.
